Welcome to my personal JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes fundraising page! 

Just a few days after this past Christmas, my daughter Abby, age 4 1/2, was diagnosed with Type 1 Juvenile Diabetes.  My sister-in-law has had Type 1 since she was 10, and I knew my children were at risk and I was aware of what to look for.  Other than that, I knew very little about the disease.

Since Abby's diagnosis, my husband and I have learned tons!  I'm proud to say, that even though sometimes things have been very difficult and trying, my brave little girl has been so strong and ready to do what she needs to in order to keep her body healthy.  In just the first two weeks, she has endured over 70 injections, and even more finger pricks.  She will battle this disease for the rest of her life, that is, until a cure is found.

Our family will be taking part in this year?s Walk to raise funds to improve the lives of all people affected by type 1 diabetes (T1D). Abby's sisters have seen what Abby has to deal with, and asked if we could please do this to raise money for a cure.  If you ask people with T1D, they will tell you it is difficult and life threatening.  And they know it never goes away.

We are asking for your support.  Please donate to our personal fundraising efforts.  By doing so, you can help me make a difference for millions of people living with type 1 diabetes.

Did you know that:

• T1D is an autoimmune disease that comes on suddenly and strikes both children and adults at any age?
• T1D has nothing to do with diet or lifestyle?
• Those living with T1D must carefully balance insulin doses with eating and daily activities throughout the day and night?
• Those living with T1D must test their blood sugar by pricking their fingers for blood 6 or more times a day?

As the leader of the type 1 diabetes community, JDRF unifies global efforts to cure, treat and prevent T1D.  JDRF will not rest until T1D is fully conquered.  Won't you please give to JDRF as generously as possible?
