Hello! This year, I'll be taking part in JDRF's Walk to Cure Diabetes, along with one-half million other walkers across the country, as we try to reach our goal of raising $89 million. Please help our team by donating. JDRF provides one third of all research funding for type 1 diabetes. Your donation goes for research for prevention of type 1 diabetes, improved monitoring of glucose levels and kidney, eye, heart and nerve damage due to diabetes.
Type 1, or juvenile diabetes, is a devastating disease that affects millions of people, a large and growing percentage of them children. Our son Chris who is 27 has type 1 diabetes. We would like to see the cure happen soon. Because of money donated to JDRF over the decades, we have been able to greatly improve the lives of those living with type 1. There is tangible evidence this money contributed to research has changed lives. We will continue to test his blood glucose 6 - 8 times a day and take injections each time he eats until we can find a cure. JDRF has improved the lives of type 1 diabetics greatly in the ten years since Chris was diagnosed. Help us to continue to maintain this research.
Our son Chris is a PHD student at Northwestern Unversity in Chicago. His brother is also an engineering student in graduate school at Clemson, so that is why our team is "Engineering a Cure".
There is some good news, though. JDRF is our best hope for finding a cure. It funds more type 1 diabetes research than any other charity worldwide and it's making progress along many promising paths toward better treatments and a cure.
Now, more than ever, you can make a crucial difference. Won't you please give to JDRF as generously as possible? Together, we can make the cure a reality!
Thank you very much!
