I'm participating in the JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes!
Welcome to Max's Superheroes! We are excited to be involved in our 9th Walk to Cure Diabetes. We are keeping our spirits high and hope to once again raise $10,000 for JDRF. We have exciting news to share from the past year.
First of all, Max represented Minnesota at the JDRF's Children's Congress this past June in Washington, D.C. He applied and was one of 150 children to represent all kids with type 1 diabetes. He spent three days meeting with members of Congress and lobbying for funding for type 1 diabetes along with pushing the FDA to move forward with the Artificial Pancreas Project. Highlights included meeting Supreme Court Justice Sotomayer, who was diagnosed with type 1 at age 8, meeting with Senator Franken from Minnesota along with Keven Kline (yes, the actor and parent of a type 1 diabetic.) Max was not intimidated and kept himself in the conversation. I was so proud of him! Scott has taken on the challenge as President of the MN Chapter of JDRF. He continues to work with the local organization sto raise funds, build corporate relationships, and keep the parent run organization strong here in Minnesota. They are bringing a challenge run to Minnesota in March called the Tundra Challenge, on March 10th. Click here if you want to sign up www.tundrachallenge.com! It will be just like the Warrior Dash...with snow! JDRF is also an official charity for the Twin Cities Marathon...so, if anyone wants to run 26 miles just let us know.
Finally, we ask you once again to support Max's journey with type 1 diabetes with a donation to JDRF. We know there will be a cure in his lifetime it is just a question of when. Funding of this research will have a direct impact on his life...it already has with the technology we use today to help manage his blood sugars. We are looking forward to the new MySentry which will transmit an alarm to our bedroom for middle of the night highs and lows!
Max never gets a day off from diabetes and that is why we WALK for a CURE! Thanks again! Judy, Scott, Maxwell, Madeline and Jack
