Join me in the fight to create a world without type 1 diabetes!

Welcome to my JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes personal fundraising page!

Here are some of what I have to do that isn't the greatest:

  • No less than 5 finger pokes for blood testing AND 4 or more insulin shots every day.
  • T1D has helped me with my math because I count my carbohydrate intake for every meal and snack, divide the carbs by 15 and then add or subtract any corrective insulin for high or low blood sugar readings.
  • I visit the school nurse 2-5 times per day for diabetes, which is sometimes when I should be in class.
  • Sleeping at a friends house is okay in most cases, but some parents are uncomfortable with diabetes. Now that I manage my own shots and testing, this should become less of an issue.
  • Insulin and some other diabetes stuff is sensitive to heat and cold, so I carry an insulated bag with my supplies. This is a bonus at times when I have a treat that I doesn't want to melt in the summer sun!

I'm joining this year's Walk to raise funds to improve the lives of millions of people like me with type 1 diabetes (T1D). The money I raise will help JDRF advance its strategic research plan to end T1D.

T1D is a life-threatening autoimmune disease in which a person’s pancreas stops producing insulin, which the body needs to get energy from food. Managing the disease requires constant carbohydrate counting, blood-glucose testing, and lifelong dependence on insulin. With T1D there are no days off, and there is no cure.

JDRF is working every day to change that. And, as the largest nongovernmental funder of T1D research, every dollar JDRF directs toward its research plan comes from donors like you.

Please support my commitment and donate to my Walk fundraising efforts today. Your gift will make a difference for millions of people affected by this devastating, life-threatening disease.

Thank you for your support!
