JDRF's21st Walk to Cure Diabetes is only a few weeks away!As you know, I have participated in The Walk since its inception. Over the past 21 years I have been a volunteer, a fundraiser, an MC and for the last 18 months a staff member as well. Every year, as I look out over the 22,000 walkers I am blown away by how far we have come from that first year, both with this event and in how I manage my diabetes.
The JDRF Walk at the MOA has grown to become the second largest, single fundraising site in all of Minnesota with over 22,000 people raising over $2 Million!
Although managing my diabetes is significantly easier, my blood glucose monitor now plugs into my iPhone, we still have a way to go and need your continued support more than ever!
I am again fortunate to be this year's MC for The Walk, and I am confident it will be our best yet! Our goal is to raise over $2.2 Million for diabetes research to find a cure! I know with your help we can do it!
After 26 years of insulin injections and multiple finger sticks daily; approximately 57,000+ needle pokes in my lifetime, I remain hopeful that we are close to a cure! The support I receive from people like you keeps that hope alive.
As in the past, I am asking for your help to reach my team goal of $5,000.
Admittedly, I miss, in part, no longer trudging through the snow and up your driveways to ask for donations. It gave me a chance to see each of you and catch up. The other part, however, I?m grateful to technology for making it much easier for you and me to find the cure!
The Walk is Saturday February 23rd, 2013 at the Mall of America! Join Us!
I appreciate your continued support these 21 years and for considering a donation again this year.
Your donation will count towards the team's fundraising total. In addition, please give credit to the person that asked for your support to recognize them for their efforts in creating a world without type 1 diabetes (T1D).
