Kenley's Krew & Easton's Too 2012 Walk Team. You should join us in 2013!
We will turn Type One into Type None
Welcome to Kenley's Krew & Easton's Too Team Page!
17,020 - that's the combined number of finger pokes Easton and Kenley have received in the years since they were diagnosed. Easton just passed the one-year mark while Kenley just passed year 4. It has been 1,520 nights since Kenley slept soundly through the night and 395 nights for Easton. They can't even remember the nights long ago when no one snuck in nightly at 2:00AM to check their blood sugar levels and possibly try to get them to drink a juice box while half asleep. These are two of the many reasons we are at it again this year helping JDRF raise funds to find a cure for Type 1 Diabetes. Because for our kids, finding a cure is the only way this disease is going to go away. It is the only way they can sleep soundly through the night or take treats offered from Grandma without first stopping to check blood sugars and calculate carbs. It's the only way they won't have to figure out how to handle things at a birthday party, or stop at halftime of the game to check numbers. It's the only way to make them feel like every other kid out there and not one that other kids look at differently and parents worry about inviting over to play. But let's also make one thing clear - these two amazing kids already know that having diabetes will not define who they are or who they will become. They will play basketball, go swimming, have sleepovers, date, go to college, and grow up to be amazing people making a difference in their world. Not just because they are amazing, but because their support system is as well. It's because of all the family members that didn't shy away from the extra work that dealing with diabetes creates. For the family friends that weren't afraid to invite the kids over to play. For the teachers, school staff, and coaches that said "Tell me what to do." verses "I have to do what?" For all of you that have been there with donations in our previous walks, offering support and encouragement while we acclimated to this sometimes exhausting disease, and most importantly for making our kids feel "normal" we are incredibly grateful. Because of your financial and emotional generosity in the past, we are once again asking for your help. By joining our Walk Team and making a donation, you will be helping us to raise funds to directly support research with the greatest potential to conquer this disease.
As a team, we are motivated by the courage and perseverance of those facing the everyday challenges of type 1 diabetes - they are the reason we challenge ourselves to give more, to do more, to achieve more. Take a look at the following link to see the two kids that push us every day to want to find a cure. Two kids that will be able to do all the things other kids do thanks to the support they receive from all of you!
Your donation will count towards the team's fundraising total. In addition, please give credit to the person that asked for your support to recognize them for their efforts in creating a world without type 1 diabetes (T1D).
