"Ben Fischin' for a Cure" will be participating in our 12th Walk to Cure Diabetes in February at Mall of America. I am again asking for your support in our fundraising efforts to find a cure for diabetes. As most of you know, I was diagnosed with type one diabetes when I was 7 years old and in second grade...that was 13 years ago!
I am now a junior at Winona State University in Winona MN and am majoring in Business. I also play on Winona's Club Baseball team. My mom and dad still worry about me being away at college with diabetes. My mom's favorite line is "take good care!" Which is code for "make sure you are taking care of your diabetes".
I still wear an insulin pump which is attached to my abdomen 24/7, which is better than when I was taking 6 shots a day. I test my blood sugar by poking my finger 6-7 times a day to make sure my levels are in range. With all I do to manage my diabetes, I still find myself with high or low blood sugars alot. When I'm high I feel jittery, sweating & confused. When I'm low, I'm shaking, hungry, disoriented & tired. It doesn't feel good!
That's why I ask for your help...I want to find a cure! JDRF is our best hope for finding a cure. It funds more type 1 diabetes research than any other charity worldwide and it's making progress along many promising paths toward better treatments and a cure. JDRF's committed to turning Type One into Type NONE!
You can help me reach my goal of raising $3000 by donating to Ben Fischin' for a Cure by clicking the link on the right side of this page. Your tax-deductible donation will mean alot!
