Hello! Thanks so much for coming to Andy's webpage.
It has now been over five years since Andy was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes. In that time, we have watched him strive to live a normal life, despite the constant demands of the disease. Andy rarely complains, and he continues to inspire us daily with his courage and positive attitude. Throughout it all, Andy's dream is to be a "normal kid". Our family is more committed than ever to doing what we can to help fund advancements so that Andy's dream can become reality.
In 2009, in an effort to raise money to help find a cure for Type 1 diabetes, and to encourage and support Andy, we formed "Andy's Army" and we continue to be amazed at the support we have received from family and friends. For the sixth year in a row, we will again be taking part in JDRF's Walk to Cure Diabetes. The JDRF is the largest charitable funder of Type 1 Diabetes research worldwide. Our family believes strongly that supporting JDRF is the best way we can work towards improving daily life for Andy and so many others like him. This year's Minnesota chapter walk will be held on Saturday, February 22nd from 8:30 AM to 9:30 AM at the Mall of America.
You can join "Andy's Army" by being willing to help in one of the following ways:
1) Make a contribution in support of Andy's Army. You can donate either online (see Donate Button above) or by sending a check made out to JDRF to our home address;
2) Come walk with us on February 22nd. All we request is that you register (see Button above labelled "Join My Team"), and join us at the walk from on Saturday, Feb. 22nd. Its just a fun, leisurely walk inside the Mall of America, with no set time or distance requirements, and is a great outing for the entire family! Each year it is amazing to watch the fun that Andy and his friends have as they join in the big celebration that day as we all get caught up in the HOPE for a CURE!
Also, we invite you to watch the updated video clip we made of Andy and his life with diabetes that is found below. We hope it will encourage others to join in this cause. Thank you for supporting our family in our efforts to find a cure. We won't stop believin' in a better future for Andy and others with this disease!
