Welcome to our 3nd Annual JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes Team Page! We are once again taking the steps to help achieve JDRF's mission: to find a cure for diabetes and its complications through the support of research.
Hard to believe Brayden?s been a Type 1 Diabetic now for 2 years!!!! He is doing well and is learning as he grows all about his diabetes?the dos and don?ts and so on. He continues to be on the pump and checks his blood sugars 8-10 times a day. We are patiently waiting for Medtronic to come out with their new continuous glucose monitor (CGM) which we will use on Brayden. This CGM will be a much smaller version of what they have. Our other goal is to also get him on the MySentry, which works in conjunction with the CGM. This unit would allow us to push a button to have an instant blood glucose reading at any time of day. This will also allow us to monitor his daily activities closer as his daily levels, etc. get downloaded to this unit. This will be extremely important when he starts kindergarten this fall. That will be another hurdle, but should be OK as our school nurse in St Peter is well acclimated to diabetes.
On August 18, 2012 we had our 2nd Annual Minnesota River Valley Ride for a Cure (motorcycle/classic car ride)...another successful event!! We raised close to $5,500 for JDRF; and are once again looking forward to planning next year's event.
So, the reason you are reading this?On February 23, 2013, our family will once be again walking in the JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes. Our goals are still the same?and always will be to raise money to support the research required to find better treatments and a cure; and to provide Brayden with support and let him know that he is not alone with this disease. To accomplish our goals, we are once again raising money in support of Brayden and the JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes. The money our JDRF Walk Team raises will go directly to support this life-changing research.
The JDRF Walk is a fantastic way to make a difference in the millions of lives of people affected by type 1 diabetes. For at least that one day, they will look around and see all the support they have from their friends, family and community. On Walk Day, everyone can have fun and celebrate how much closer to a cure we are because of their efforts.
Each member of our team is already hard at work in their fundraising. If you have taken time to visit our team page today, we ask that you consider making a donation or joining our team.
