Dear Friends and Family,
This year our walk team, Saints for a Cure (my family and friends), will be participating in The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation Walk to Find a Cure for Diabetes. It's our 7th walk -- that's how long I've had diabetes (almost 1/2 my life). I'd like to write to all of you and ask for your support in helping our cause.
I live with diabetes all day, every day. I poke my finger to check my sugars multiple times a day and inject myself with insulin. (That requires needles. Who likes needles? They're awful!) I have to count the carbs of everything I eat so that I make sure to get the right amount of insulin to keep my blood sugar at a good level.
The money our walk team raises will go directly to support life-changing research. The walk is a fantastic way to make a difference to the millions of lives of people affected by diabetes, including myself. Now more than ever EACH of us can make a real difference and help keep me strong, confident, funny, and brave as I live with this disease.
Did you know that:
I am asking for your support. Please donate to my personal fundraising efforts. By doing so, you can help me make a difference for millions of people living with type 1 diabetes as well as myself.
As the leader of the type 1 diabetes community, JDRF unifies global efforts to cure, treat and prevent T1D. JDRF will not rest until T1D is fully conquered. Won't you please give to JDRF as generously as possible?
P.S. The Walk Day is on February 22nd, 2014 from 8:00 to 9:00 A.M. at the Mall of America. I'd love it if you'd come to support the cause, walk, talk, and eat.
