Welcome to my personal JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes fundraising page! Once again, I'll be taking part in JDRF's Walk to Cure Diabetes, along with one-half million other walkers across the country, as we try to reach our nationwide goal of raising $94 million.
WHY WE WALK I will never forget May 2, 2009--the day that my little 3 year old boy was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes. Before Cade, I had never known anyone living with type one diabetes. The diagnosis left us feeling helpless and fearful for Cade's wellbeing. Type 1 diabetes (T1D) is an autoimmune disease that strikes children and adults suddenly, and can be fatal. While we still worry about and fear what can happen if Cade's blood sugar gets too low, we are doing what we can to not feel helpless against Type 1.
We have learned so much about treatments and Type 1 management over the years. JDRF is our best hope for finding a cure. It funds more Type 1 diabetes research than any other charity worldwide and it's making progress along many promising paths toward better treatments and a cure. So, we walk and we will continue walking until Cade and other children have a cure and no longer have to worry about whether or not they can share a snack with friends, checking their number and administering insulin.
I am asking for your support. Please donate to my personal fundraising efforts. By doing so, you can help me make a difference for millions of people living with type 1 diabetes.
Won't you please give to JDRF as generously as possible?
