Welcome to my personal JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes fundraising page!†
I'll be†participating in this year's Walk to raise funds to improve the lives of all people affected by type 1 diabetes (T1D).† The walk takes place on February 23rd at the Mall of America.
The company I work for (Atterro) has been advocating for a young girl with type 1 diabetes since she was 8 years old. This is the 10th year of our partnership, Taylor is now 18 years old, and she will be going off to college in the fall of 2013!
As our Youth Ambassador,†Taylor's personal story helps raise awareness about the disease and motivates everyone to raise money for JDRF. When she was 8, she shared how she learned to give herself insulin shots for the first time at Camp Needlepoint. We learned our donations made a huge difference when she finally got an insulin pump a couple of years later. The insulin pump was developed thanks to the research done with the money raised from JDRF. With the pump, she no longer had to prick herself multiple times a day to test her blood sugar level or give herself shots. The pump monitors her blood sugar levels and automatically gives her insulin when she needs it. However, she has to wear it all the time which can be challenging. Through Taylor, we?ve learned that living with Type 1 diabetes isn?t easy despite the advanced tools developed to help her manage the disease.
I am asking for your help to support the fight to cure, better treat and prevent type 1 diabetes.†Please make a donation (or come walk with me!)†to support this amazing cause. The amount doesn't matter, it could be $1.00 or $100.00, every little bit leads us closer to finding that cure!
Your donation will count towards the team's fundraising total. In addition, please give credit to the person that asked for your support to recognize them for their efforts in creating a world without type 1 diabetes (T1D).
