Welcome to my JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes personal fundraising page!
My peronal interest in raising money for T1D, My 12 year old son Michael was diagnosed September 2013 and in memory of my nephew Mitchell who was 4 years old in 1988 when diagnosed. I have seen the changes in the last 20 years how far we have come in treatments and will continue to do so with your support. My goal also is to educate our schools where we send our children with T1D to feel safe. I live in a rural area and the school does not have a plan in place for kids with T1D nor a nurse on staff. I don't want anyone to go through what Michael did his first day of 7th grade.
T1D is a life-threatening autoimmune disease in which a person’s pancreas stops producing insulin, which the body needs to get energy from food. Managing the disease requires constant carbohydrate counting, blood-glucose testing, and lifelong dependence on insulin. With T1D there are no days off, and there is no cure.
JDRF is working every day to change that. And, as the largest nongovernmental funder of T1D research, every dollar JDRF directs toward its research plan comes from donors like you.
Please support my commitment and donate to my Walk fundraising efforts today. Your gift will make a difference for millions of people affected by this devastating, life-threatening disease.
Thank you for your support!
