Welcome to our 4th Annual JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes Team Page! We are once again taking the steps to help achieve JDRF's mission: to find a cure for diabetes and its complications through the support of research.
We are fast approaching the 4 year anniversary of Brayden’s diagnosis!! He is doing verywell and is constantly learning all about his diabetes as he grows. He continues to be on the pump and checks his blood sugars 8-10 times a day. He started kindergarten this fall and has been doing great with school. We have a VERY supportive school system, WONDERFUL nurses, and COMPASSIONATE teacher here in St. Peter. It’s been working out very well…the nurses text me with Brayden’s BG numbers at morning snack, lunch time, before gym, and before he heads home on the bus. We’ll only had a few issues with his numbers going low, but that’s OK…he likes to hang back sometimes with his teacher and nurses!
On August 24, 2013 we had our 3rd Annual Minnesota River Valley Ride for a Cure (motorcycle/classic car ride)...another successful event!! We raised close to $5,700 for JDRF; and are once again looking forward to planning next year's event. This ride is the highlight of our summer!!
So, the reason you are reading this…On February 22, 2014, our family will again bewalking in the JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes at the Mall of America. Our goal is still the same, and always will be to raise money to support the research required to find better treatments and a cure; and to provide Brayden with support and let him know that he is not alone with this disease. To accomplish our goal, we are again raising money in support of Brayden and the JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes. The money our JDRF Walk Team raises will go directly to support this life-changing research.
The JDRF Walk is a fantastic way to make a difference in the millions of lives of people affected by type 1 diabetes. For at least that one day, they will look around and see all the support they have from their friends, family and community. On Walk Day, everyone can have fun and celebrate how much closer to a cure we are because of their efforts.
