Welcome to Max's Superheroes! We are excited to be involved in our 11th Walk to Cure Diabetes. Yes, we celebrated Max's 10 year anniversary on October 24th. Max celebrated by taking his first solo trip to Washington D.C. to visit my sister and her family. He managed through 3+days and two flights on his own. Max still tests his blood sugar 8 times a day, counts his carbohydrates, and we still set our alarm for the middle of the night. He has also gained a new level of freedom by finally acquiring a real cell phone for his 13th birthday in August. He now texts us with his blood sugar numbers while at football and basketballl practice (when he remembers). Once again, we ask you to help us raise $10,000 for JDRF. Updates from the past year include:
Max is 5 feet 10 inches - and growing! (that's 6 inches in under a year)
Scott is no longer needed to coach football or basketball to keep track of Max's blood sugars - a whole new level of freedom for both of them. He is ready to coach baseball in the spring.
Max goes to Valleyfair on his own.
Max and Scott take a trip to Cooperstown, New York with his baseball team.
Diabetes training no longer required before going over to friends.
Pulls his own insulin shots when we need to manage with needles.
We ask you once again to support Max's journey with type 1 diabetes with a donation to JDRF. We know there will be a cure in his lifetime it is just a question of when. Funding of this research will have a direct impact on his life...it already has with the technology we use today to help manage his blood sugars.

Max never gets a day off from diabetes and that is why we WALK for a CURE! Thanks again! Judy, Scott, Maxwell, Madeline and Jack
