Andy's Army

Welcome to Andy's Army Team Page!  We've got some very exciting news!  Andy has been given the honor of being named the Youth Ambassador for the 2013 Walk to Cure Diabetes.  In this role, he will be the public face of this year's walk, and will help lead the festivities the day of the walk.  Our family is very excited to be able to play such a meaningful part for a cause that means so very much to us, and want to encourage all of Andy's Army faithful supporters to join us in this very special event!

We have found that the JDRF Walk is a fantastic way to make a difference in Andy's life and the millions of others affected by type 1 diabetes. JDRF's mission is to find a cure for diabetes and its complications through the support of research. The money our JDRF Walk Team raises will go directly to support this life-changing research.  We continue to believe that by supporting the JDRF, we will help achieve Andy's goal of finding a cure for diabetes so that he can be a "regular kid". 

We are off to an amazing start with our fundraising, thanks to the generosity and initiative of family and friends.  This fall, for the second year in a row, Joellyn Veninga, the mom of one of Andy's friends, participated in an Iron Girl event and tied all her fundraising to Andy's Army, with extraordinary results.  We continue to be overwhelmed by the love and support Andy and our family receive in our efforts to find a cure for diabetes, and are inspired to continue in our efforts.

The walk is held inside the Mall of America from 8AM to 9AM, prior to the mall opening.  For at least that one day, Andy is able to look around and see all the support he has from friends, family and the community.  Walk Day is an opportunity for everyone to have fun and show Andy that we are with him in his hope for a cure. 

This will be the 5th year that Andy's Army has participated in the walk.  Each year our group has grown in number and enthusiasm!  Its is simply amazing to look out and see family, friends, teammates, classmates and neighbors all gathered together to find a cure for this disease that affects so many families like ours.  If you haven't already, we'd love to invite you to join Andy's Army!  This will be a very special year with Andy in the role of Youth Ambasador!  You can either donate online, or  join us at the Mall of America from 8am to 9am on Saturday, February 23rd.  To make a team donation, click on one of the "Donate" buttons at the top of this page.
