Thanks for visiting my JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes fundraising page! The St. Louis walk is coming up on October 6th and I'm so excited to once again take part in this event. It's been over 12 years since that fateful day when my world changed and I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes.
T1D is an autoimmune disease that comes on suddenly and strikes both children and adults at any age. I didn't do anything wrong. It just happened. Now I must check my blood sugar several times a day along with counting carbohydrates and dosing insulin accordingly. I wear an insulin pump that allows me to lead a normal life, but it doesn't take away the reality that insulin is not a cure. My pump is merely a lifeline. If it malfunctions without me realizing it, I could be dead within 12 hours.
If there's one thing I'd like to experience in the rest of my life, it's living one more day without diabetes. Please support diabetes research and give as generously as you can. I invite you to join Leanne's Fans and walk with me at the JDRFs Walk to Cure Diabetes. Lastly, please check out my music video, "A Life With T1D," to learn a little more about what living with this disease is like.
