Join the Wilson family in the fight to create a world without type 1 diabetes!
Welcome to my JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes personal fundraising page!
I'm joining this year's Walk to raise funds to improve the lives of millions of people with type 1 diabetes (T1D). The money I raise will help JDRF advance its strategic research plan to end T1D.
T1D is a life-threatening autoimmune disease in which a person’s pancreas stops producing insulin, which the body needs to get energy from food. Managing the disease requires constant carbohydrate counting, blood-glucose testing, and lifelong dependence on insulin. With T1D there are no days off, and there is no cure.
Your donation is in honor of Paris Wilson, age 7 who was diagnosed with type 1 in December 2013. It has been a big adjustment for her, but she has been really brave and accepted it as her life now. It doesnt have to be that way, and if we work together they will find a cure. JDRF has been a big help in our lives during this new and scary time, they have made it a little easier for us by giving us a backpack with free supplies and informational material. They have also offered their support and had fun events for us to be around other people dealing with the same issues. My daughter doesnt get a day off from diabetes, it is an everyday struggle that involves being poked, given shots everytime you want to eat, feeling cranky and super hungry when she has low blood sugar, not getting to eat whenever you want. If there is a way to change this for her and other people struggling it is worth it.
Please support my commitment and donate to my Walk fundraising efforts today. Your gift will make a difference for millions of people affected by this devastating, life-threatening disease.
