Our daughter Christi has suffered from type 1 diabetes for the past ten years. We have always supported JDRF for diabetes research. This past July, Christi was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis. Apparently, once you have an autoimmune disease you are more susceptible to other autoimmune diseases. We have made the decision to continue to support JDRF as our main source of focus while supporting the Arthritis Foundation as our number two commitment. Our ten year association with JDRF is why we have chosen to put most of our energy with them.
Christi is a sophomore at Mizzou this year and she plans to teach English in Germany and/or Japan upon graduation. She then wants to return home to teach German and Japanese. Her courage and perseverance these past few months has been very impressive. She has never let diabetes get in her way of doing anything or going anywhere. Now with both diabetes and arthritis, she has to work that much harder but we know that she will not let anything stop her. She is one tough young lady!
JDRF is the leading funder of diabetes research in the world. Eighty percent of all dollars raised go directly towards research. The president of JDRF has an annual salary of $1!
You can help by making a donation to Christi?s walk team and also by sharing this with your facebook friends. You never know who else is affected by either of these diseases and would like to make a difference.
Thanks so much for caring about Christi and everyone who suffers from these diseases. Please keep Christi in your prayers.
