Welcome to my personal JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes fundraising page! I'll be taking part in this years Walk to raise funds to improve the lives of all people affected by type 1 diabetes (T1D). If you ask people with T1D, they will tell you it is difficult and life threatening. And they know it never goes away.
I have had type 1 Diabetes since I was 15. I have an insulin pump (One Touch Ping) and although it should make things easier, control has been difficult with the new changes in my life- moving to college and being on my own. I love to go on the walks and see others who understand the daily challenges. This will be my 5th diabetes walk, as I support and walk for both JDRF and American Diabetes Association. This summer I will volunteer as a camp counselor at Kudzu, a diabetes camp, and help kids adjust to the disease!!!!! Any support is greatly appreciated, and anyone who would like to walk is very welcome. JDRF makes it very easy to add walkers, always hoping for a bigger crowd. I walk for myself, but also for the millions of people that share my struggles or even have it worse ~diabetes may lead to many complications. So many people have diabetes or have the genetic predisposition to get it and so I encourage you to take initiative supporting a cause to fight a disease that either you or a close friend or family member may have to deal with in the future. Walks for the Cure remind us that we are not alone and that there are millions of people searching for the cure.
I am asking for your support. Please donate to my personal fundraising efforts. By doing so, you can help me make a difference for millions of people living with type 1 diabetes.
Did you know that:
As the leader of the type 1 diabetes community, JDRF unifies global efforts to cure, treat and prevent T1D. JDRF will not rest until T1D is fully conquered. Won't you please give to JDRF as generously as possible?
Thank you for your support!
