Hello & welcome to my personal JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes fundraising page!  I'm taking part in this year's Walk on behalf of my wife Katie.  **For more info on the specific walk we'll be participating in on April 20, click the blue Rowan-Iredell-Cabarrus 2013 Walk to Cure Diabetes link at the upper right hand corner of this page.** 

These walks are important to me because Katie was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes (T1D) over 15 years ago.  {Please read her personal story here: http://www2.jdrf.org/goto/kcc1998.}   Together Katie & I will be walking with our team, Katie's Cure Crusaders, to raise support & funds for the millions of people living with & affected by T1D.  The money I raise will help JDRF fund critical research to better treat & ultimately cure T1D.

T1D is a life-threatening autoimmune disease in which Katie's pancreas has stopped producing insulin - a hormone essential to the ability to get energy from food.  It strikes both children & adults suddenly & changes life as they know it forever.  It cannot be prevented & there is no cure, today.

JDRF is the largest nongovernmental funder of T1D research & the only global organization with a strategic research plan to fight T1D.  This science is complex & costly, & every dollar JDRF is able to direct toward research comes from donors like YOU.  Money that has been raised over the years has given Katie access to better & better tools that help her manage her diabetes, & I want this to continue for Katie in 2013.  Please make a donation & join our team today.  Even $1 is $1 closer to the cure for my wife!
