Join me in the fight to cure, better treat and prevent type 1 diabetes!

Welcome to my personal JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes fundraising page!  I'll be taking part in this year?s Walk to raise funds to improve the lives of all people affected by type 1 diabetes (T1D), but especially for 10 year old Avery, who was diagnosed with T1D in August of 2012.

That day started like any other day. And then I received a call from a young Mother that I couldn't be closer to if she were my own biological daughter, saying that they were at the hospital, and that Avery was just diagnosed with T1D. I watched as this diagnoses, this illness changed Avery's and his families lives forever.  I also watched the love in action and the courage of this family as they made the changes to ensure that Avery's life would be as long and as healthy as possible. And Seeing how Avery's family used their reliance on our God Jehovah, and how they used all the help from doctors, caregivers and educators, family and friends to give Avery the best life possible, fills my heart with joy. Above all watching how courageous Avery has been from his diagnoses at just 9 years old,  through the pricks and shots not just during the day, but all during the night, and the life style changes, dietary changes that no young person should have to make, and the ups and downs of blood sugar levels fills me with pride, love and awe. What a trooper he is! If you ask people with T1D, they will tell you it is difficult and life threatening.  And they know it never goes away.  I walk for AVERY, who I love dearly! He is my #1.

I am asking for your support.  Please donate to my personal fundraising efforts.  By doing so, you can help me make a difference for millions of people living with type 1 diabetes.

    Did you know that:

    • T1D is an autoimmune disease that comes on suddenly and strikes both children and adults at any age?
    • T1D has nothing to do with diet or lifestyle?
    • Those living with T1D must carefully balance insulin doses with eating and daily activities throughout the day and night?
    • Those living with T1D must test their blood sugar by pricking their fingers for blood 6 or more times a day?

As the leader of the type 1 diabetes community, JDRF unifies global efforts to cure, treat and prevent T1D.  JDRF will not rest until T1D is fully conquered.  Won't you please give to JDRF as generously as possible?

    Thank you for your support!
