Hi! It's that time of year again! The Griffins are gearing it up for the 2013 JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes. Our son, Jack, has been living with Type 1 diabetes since being diagnosed in 2010 when he was just five years old. It was an agonizing time for Jack and our family as he bravely began his treatment and we got a crash course in blood sugar tests, how to count carbs and administer his insulin through shots. We have since transitioned to an insulin pump, but the only way Jack will be able to stop his constant monitoring of blood sugars, carb counting and insulin injections is through a cure. Jack is tough, but pricking his finger six times a day and playing and sleeping attached to a pump is no fun for a little boy. This is why the Griffins will walk on 4/27/13 at Carowinds with other teams and supporters of JDRF, as we try to reach our goal of $10,000!
Type 1, or juvenile diabetes, is a devastating disease that affects millions of people, a large and growing percentage of them children. JDRF is our best hope for finding a cure. It funds more type 1 diabetes research than any other charity worldwide and it's making progress along many promising paths toward better treatments and a cure.
Finding a cure for Type 1 Diabetes is our family's #1 priority. We would love for you to walk with us on the 27th, but if you can't join us, we are deeply grateful for any donation you contribute to any member of our walk team. We always appreciate the thoughts and good wishes you send Jack's way. Thank you for supporting Team Jack Attack!
