Dear Friends and Family,
This is the last walk letter you'll ever get from me. Next year, I head off to college so this is my last chance. I want to make this year's walk the most memorable, fun and successful one ever! I need your help to make it happen.
This is my 17th Walk to Cure Diabetes and I am not only Team Captain of Cassie's Care Team, but I am serving as the 2013 Walk Chair of the entire Winston-Salem Walk to Cure Diabetes. Our family supports the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, or JDRF, because they are the world’s largest charitable advocate for diabetes research. This past year JDRF was able to fund over $100 million of research; they understand how important a cure is to people like us. The Walk is the biggest source of money to fund JDRF's research and advocacy.
Will you come join me on October 26th? To me, Walk days are special. I don't remember my first Walk to Cure Diabetes. I was so young -- only 1. Each Walk has always felt like a holiday to me. It was always a happy thing. Hot dogs and sugar free ice cream. My friends would all come out and support me, wearing my shirt with my name name on it. I'd feel the love of friends and family, like you, to see me through my disease.
To make an online donation or to walk with us, click the big blue DONATE button (above). If you can walk with us in Winston-Salem, click the "JOIN MY TEAM" button at the top right of this page.
I'm still very hopeful for a cure. I'm surprised at how optimistic I stay. I think it's because of the progress we see from JDRF and because of the encouragement from people like you.
You have always been so loyal supporting me. For that, I cannot thank you enough. Will you please join me one last time, to help Cassie's Care Team make a difference?
Thanks you for always supporting me,
