Welcome to my personal JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes fundraising page!
This year I will be participating in the JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes in Liverpool, NY. Diabetes has been an enormous part of my life since I was in first grade. I do not remember a life without it. I have grown up with this and now it has become a part of who I am. I have never let it stop me from doing whatever I want to do, however, it is not always easy. I have become a D1 cheerleader at Syracuse University and have accomplished so many of my life goals. Diabetes has not slowed me down. Curing diabetes would make life just that much better. No more worrying about what my blood sugar will be at all times of the day, no more of a hassle on my friends and family always making sure I'm alright. There are many children diagnosed with diabetes every year just like I was. A cure for diabetes would mean that they would not have to face many of the trials and tribulations people like me have. A cure for diabetes would mean a better life for many.
Type 1 diabetes is a life-threatening autoimmune disease in which a person's pancreas stops producing insulin - a hormone essential to the ability to get energy from food. It strikes both children and adults suddenly and changes life as they know it forever. It cannot be prevented and there is no cure.
JDRF is the largest nongovernmental funder of T1D research and the only global organization with a strategic research plan to fight T1D. This science is complex and costly, and every dollar JDRF is able to direct toward research comes from donors like you. JDRF has given me so many amazing opportunities in my life. From being a member of Children's Congress in 2005 to helping to find new ways to make living with diabetes easier, they are a truly caring organization. They go above and beyond to make the life of T1D's as normal as possible.
Please support me and donate to my Walk fundraising campaign. Your gift will make a difference for millions of people affected by this devastating, life-threatening disease. Won't you please give to JDRF as generously as possible today?
Thank you for your support!
