Welcome to our Family JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes fundraising page!
If you ask Children living with T1D or their families about T1D, they would tell you how difficult T1D is and life threatening not just long term but every moment of everyday minute by minute.
If you asked Justin now 10 yrs old and diagnosed since 10/19/2009 at the young age of 6 he would tell you the same. Justin and others living with T1D knows it never goes away or takes a vacation.
This is why we will be taking part in this year’s Walk to raise funds to improve the lives of all children & adults affected by type 1 diabetes (T1D). We are asking for your support. Please donate to our Family fundraising efforts. By doing so, you can help us make a difference for millions of children & adults living with type 1 diabetes.
Did you know that:
*Type 1 is very different then Type 2
In Diabetes Type 1 the body is not producing insulin, while in Diabetes Type 2 the cells are not responding properly to the insulin, and/or there is not enough insulin being produced. The body is producing no insulin - as is the case in Diabetes Type 1The cells do not respond correctly to the insulin - as occurs in Diabetes Type 2People with Type 1 have to take insulin regularly in order to stay alive.
Diabetes Type 1 is not preventable; it is in no way the result of a person's lifestyle. Whether a person is fat, thin, fit or unfit, makes no difference to his or her risk of developing Type 1. In the case of Diabetes Type 2, much of its onset is the result of bodyweight, fitness and lifestyle. The vast majority of people who develop Type 1 are not overweight, and are otherwise healthy during onset. You cannot reverse or prevent Type 1 by doing lots of exercise or eating carefully. Quite simply, the Diabetes Type 1 patient has lost his/her beta cells. The beta cells are in the pancreas; they produce insulin. The link below has more info
* T1D does not discriminate and is not hereditary everyone and anyone is at risk of someday developing T1D, so please help us find a cure and ways to prevent T1D because someone you love might one day to have T1D just never really know
As the leader of the Type 1 Diabetes community, JDRF unifies global efforts to cure, treat and prevent T1D. JDRF will not rest until T1D is fully conquered. Won't you please give to JDRF as generously as possible?
We also have more T-shirts if anyone is intersted in one please email me a email@example.com for more info thank you
