Hello! Thanks for visiting our fundraising page. On May 5th, 2013, we will join our daughter Maryssa for her 7th annual JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes. Maryssa is 7 years old and in second grade now. She loves school, even though she visits the nurse's office 6 times per day or more. Her classmates enjoy taking turns accompanying her to the nurse's office for a blood test, a dose of insulin, or a snack.
Maryssa is ice skating now and LOVES it! Soon she will be playing Little League baseball again. She knows she will have to take frequent breaks for blood tests during practices and games. When other kids ask her if it hurts to test her blood sugar, she says no. Maryssa is a real trooper when it comes to her care. However, there are times it gets her down. Recently Maryssa and Taylor were playing and she had to stop to test. She said "Taylor is lucky he doesn't have Diabetes so he can keep playing when I have to stop." Comments like this one break our hearts, but we are doing everything we can to contribute to a cure. You can contribute too.
Funding JDRF Research is our best hope for finding a cure. It funds more type 1 diabetes research than any other charity worldwide. Won't you please give to JDRF as generously as possible? Together, we can make the cure for Maryssa and so many others a reality!
Thank you for supporting Maryssa and her team,
Mary, Jeff, Taylor and Maryssa Sharp
