On October 6, 2013 our family will be walking in the JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes. As you may know, we have a personal connection with this disease that affects millions of children and adults. Our son, Kurt, was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes about 2 years ago. He was only 5 years old. It was difficult at first but together with the support of many friends and family members things have become much easier. We switched Kurt to the pump back in January 2012 and things became ever easier after that. To complicate things a little more in February he was diagnosed with Celiac Disease and EE. The challenges continue but together we will persevere...never a dull moment. My greatest hope would be to find a cure but untill then it would be wonderful if they could make further advances in the treatment of the disease. That is why we created the EBINGER EXPRESS.
As you can imagine, this has forever changed all of our lives. While managing day to day through these life changes, we are committed to JDRF and fundraising for this important cause. JDRF raises funds that power the global movement to cure, treat and prevent type 1 diabetes (T1D). Please join us in our commitment and dedication to JDRF, the leading global organization focused on T1D research.
We have formed our walk team, EBINGER EXPRESS, in order to do two things: 1) raise money to support the research required to cure, treat and prevent T1D, and 2) provide support while managing this disease.
We are actively recruiting anyone who would like to join us on our team and raise money in support of The Ebinger Express and the JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes.
Two small steps can make a BIG difference!
Please know that more than 80 percent of JDRF’s expenditures directly support research and research-related education. Past JDRF research efforts have helped to significantly improve the care of people with this disease, and have expanded the critical scientific understanding of T1D. JDRF will not rest until T1D is fully conquered.
We greatly appreciate your consideration and support of this worthy cause. We look forward to having as many people as possible join us. Even if you can’t join us at the Walk, we appreciate any and all donations made as part of our fundraising efforts for JDRF.
Last year our team raised over $6,000 and with your help we are hoping to do it again. If you can't come to the walk you can register as a vertuial walker and raise money that way. Every little bit helps.
Now, more than ever, you can make a crucial difference. Won't you please give to JDRF as generously as possible? Together, we can make the cure a reality!
