Dear Family & Friends,
Welcome to my personal fundraising page. I am asking for your support for a very special goal—to improve the lives of every person affected by type 1 diabetes (T1D).
This year, I’ll be taking part in the JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes, along with a half-million others nationwide. JDRF raises vital funds that power the global movement to help cure, treat and prevent T1D.
Type 1 diabetes (T1D) is an autoimmune disease in which a person’s pancreas stops producing insulin—a hormone essential to the ability to get energy from food. It strikes both children and adults suddenly and changes life as they know it forever. T1D causes lifelong dependence on injected or pumped insulin and carries the constant threat of complications.
People living with T1D and their families are quickly forced to adapt to a 24/7, unrelenting cycle of blood sugar level testing and insulin injections to manage the disease and stay alive. They must pay careful attention to diet, exercise, sleep, stress, and other factors that can upset the balance between dangerous blood sugar lows and highs. Despite careful management, the risks of long-term, life-threatening complications such as blindness, nerve damage, high blood pressure, stroke, and organ damage are a constant threat to those living with T1D.
T1D cannot be prevented and there is no cure.
However the JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes raises funds that are critical to T1D research. JDRF's strategic research plan focuses on lessening the impact of T1D on people’s lives with new therapies until a cure can be delivered.
I’m asking you to help support my fundraising efforts with a donation. Your tax-deductible gift will help make a difference in the lives of people with T1D. Any amount, great or small, helps JDRF get closer to its goal to improve the lives of every person affected by T1D by accelerating progress on the most promising opportunities for curing, better treating, and preventing T1D.
Thank you so much for your support.
