Welcome to my personal JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes fundraising page! I'll be taking part in this year’s Walk to raise funds to improve the lives of all people affected by type 1 diabetes (T1D). My name is Jack Murphy, I am 5 years old and a type 1 diabetic. I do not feel any different than anyone else, and I think one day I will grow out of this disease. My mommy says otherwise.......
I think I am starting to figure out not all people have diabetes AND my mom said that until a cure is found I will have diabetes. And just this past dew weeks I figured out I am the only one in Kindergarten that has an aid, goes to the nurse ALL day long and the only kid that has diabetes! It really STINKS I have to leave recess or gym bc I need a blood sugar-I want to do everything every other little boy does.....
It is part of my daily routine to get my blood sugars checked 10-20 times a day and change my insulin pump site every 2 days. And since I started Kindergarten a few weeks ago my mom and dad now have me on ANOTHER monitor called a Continuous glucose monitor (CGM) that helps track my blood sugars every 5 minutes. It is a really cool monitor that allows my mom to only take my blood about 10 times a day now BUT now I have to wear ANOTHER site on my little belly. I really do not like that site placement-I usually cry.
I even know that I CAN NOT eat anything I like, my mommy HAS to check my sugar if I even want a glass of milk (which I love), and my mommy and daddy are always asking me how I feel. So since I need to watch everything I eat and I have many days I do not feel well because of a high or low blood sugar I am asking for your support. I think it would be nice to feel good all the time. Please donate to my personal fundraising efforts. By doing so, you can help me make a HUGE difference in my life.
As the leader of the type 1 diabetes community, JDRF unifies global efforts to cure, treat and prevent T1D. JDRF will not rest until T1D is fully conquered. Won't you please give to JDRF as generously as possible?
Thank you for your support!
