Welcome to my personal JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes fundraising page!
I found out I have diabetes six years ago (when I was three). I didn't catch it, and the doctor said I didn't getting it from eating candy or something. It is something called an "autoimmune disease," and some people just get it. I am one of them.
Because I have diabetes, I have to poke my finger to check my blood sugar 7-8 times every day. I used to get two shots each day. Now I have an insulin pump. I have to wear it all the time, and it gives me the insulin I need. We have to measure all my food, and do lots of math so I get the right amount of insulin. If I am low or high (if my blook sugar is low or high), then I have to treat it. Sometimes I don't get to have the same treats as others, but I do get to have snacks during school.
I would like to not have diabetes some day. Every year, we raise money for JDRF to find a cure for diabetes. This is the sixth time we are doing it, and we are Jacob's Diabetes Rebel Fighters this year (I got to pick the name). I like to raise money to help cure diabetes. Even Katelyn and Maya help.
You can help too. You can be on our walk team and help us raise money. (You can join here and either walk with us at Kent State or just raise money.) You can also donate for me on this page. Our team is trying to raise $3,000 dollars this year.
Thank you for helping me!
