Hello Friends! It is that time of year again when I will be taking part in JDRF's Walk to Cure Diabetes at Grings Mill in Reading on October 16th. I am proud to be walking as part of Maggie's Malitia Team.
Type 1, or juvenile diabetes, is a devastating disease that affects millions of people, a large and growing percentage of them children. Among those diagnosed with this disease is my 15 year old niece Maggie. Even though she has been living with diabetes for 4 years she continues to lead an active life. Maggie is in the honors program at Boyertown and plays field hockey, basketball and lacrosse.
There is some good news, though. JDRF is our best hope for finding a cure. It funds more type 1 diabetes research than any other charity worldwide and it's making progress along many promising paths toward better treatments and a cure. This research has benefited Maggie in many ways and continues to provide her with more effective ways to control this disease.
Please help by making a donation to this cause and support Maggie's Militia.
