Join me in the fight to create a world without Type 1 Diabetes!
Welcome to my JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes personal fundraising page!
I'm joining this year's Walk to raise funds to improve the lives of millions of people with type 1 diabetes (T1D). The money I raise will help JDRF advance its strategic research plan to end T1D.
My beautiful 9 year old daughter, Grace, was diagnosed just 4 short months ago. The diagnosis was devastating, but Grace's strength and positive attitude amazed, and continues to amaze, me every day! her reaction to having T1D just the day after her diagnosis was this: "Well, I play softball, I play basketball, I dance, and now I have Type 1 Diabetes. It's just another thing about me." She has accepted T1D as a part of her life, and she is bound and determined, as I am and the rest of her family, to not let it get the best of her. T1D will be a part of her life, for the rest of her life. But Grace is going to control T1D, it will not control her. That is where your help, your donations, become so very important to Grace. With your help, even the smallest donation of $5 or $10 gets Grace that much closer to having a easier, longer life. The technology for the atificial pancreas is on the horizon. Please help Grace, and others with T1D, to realize the freedom from multiple daily shots of insulin, finger pokes 6-10 times a day, and health and life threatening highs and lows. Please help our team raise the money needed to CURE DIABETES! Help us turn Type 1 into TYPE NONE!! Thank you everyone for your support---we truly appreciate and love you all!!
T1D is a life-threatening autoimmune disease in which a person’s pancreas stops producing insulin, which the body needs to get energy from food. Managing the disease requires constant carbohydrate counting, blood-glucose testing, and lifelong dependence on insulin. With T1D there are no days off, and there is no cure.
JDRF is working every day to change that. And, as the largest nongovernmental funder of T1D research, every dollar JDRF directs toward its research plan comes from donors like you.
Please support my commitment and donate to my Walk fundraising efforts today. Your gift will make a difference for millions of people affected by this devastating, life-threatening disease.
