Welcome to the walk team page of Friends and Family for a Cure!
My brother, Zane Nardone, was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes (T1D) when he was five years old. This means that he has to pick his finger several times a day to check his blood sugar, count carbohydrates every time he eats, and wear an insulin pump 24 hours a day/seven days a week. Through all this, Zane is still able to hang out with his friends, eat his favorite foods, play many different sports, and live the normal life of a 13 year old thanks to the wonderful technological advancements being made to help people with T1D. New technology and scientific discoveries that make living with diabetes easier are made possibe by the JDRF's dedication to raising money for diabetes research and its creation and support of advocacy programs. Watching Zane grow up facing the everyday challenges of T1D movtivates me, as his sister, to fundraise for such a worthy cause.
By choosing to walk with our team on Sunday, April 27, or donating to our page online, you will be helping to fund the research necessary to give Zane, and all diabetics, a better life and, ultimately, find a cure for diabetes.
Please join Friends and Family for a Cure to support Zane and the JDRF!
