For the eleventh consecutive year, my family and I will be taking part in the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation's Walk to Cure Diabetes. The national goal is to raise $90 million to help fund research for a cure for type 1 diabetes and its complications. Our team, Rachel's Rescuers'/EIG - Kubiak Family, goal is to raise $2.500!!!
Diabetes is a devastating, often deadly disease that affects millions of people--a large and growing percentage of them children. My niece, Rachel, was diagnosed with Type 1, or juvenile, diabetes, in September of 2002.
Rachel is enjoying 10th grade and is doing great. She has been on an insulin pump since November of 2008 and it is really making a difference in her life (in ALL of our lives!!).
I'm writing to ask for your support because now more than ever, EACH of us can be a part of bringing about a cure for Rachel and the many children like her who have Type 1. Each of us can make a real difference
Together, we can make the cure a reality. Thanks on behalf of our family and many others who are affected by Diabetes.
