Join me in the fight to create a world without type 1 diabetes!
Welcome to my JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes personal fundraising page!
For years I have supported The JDRF Walk with a donation to Team Melanie's Hope. Melanie is a relative, but more importantly a family friend who was diagnosed with juvenile diabetes as a child. Fast forward, Melanie is now a mother of two awesome boys. Recently it was learned that Melanie's youngest son, Lucas is also diabetic. This year I will join Team Lucas and Melanie's Hope in an effort to raise funds to improve the lives of millions of people with type 1 diabetes (T1D). The money I raise will help JDRF advance its strategic research plan to end T1D.
My awareness of diabetes began when I was a child. My oldest sister was diagnosed when she was 13. Years later, my mother developed diabetes and then another sister.
T1D is a life-threatening autoimmune disease in which a person’s pancreas stops producing insulin, which the body needs to get energy from food. Managing the disease requires constant carbohydrate counting, blood-glucose testing, and lifelong dependence on insulin. With T1D there are no days off, and there is no cure.
JDRF is working every day to change that. And, as the largest nongovernmental funder of T1D research, every dollar JDRF directs toward its research plan comes from donors like you.
Please support my commitment and donate to my Walk fundraising efforts today. Your gift will make a difference for millions of people affected by this devastating, life-threatening disease. I am walking in memory of my sister Judy and in honor of my mother Doris and sister Cathie and of course, Melanie and Lucas.
If you wish to make a donation in any amount you may do so on the JDFR secure site or mail your donation to me at Marie Fritz P O Box 507 St. Marys, PA 15857. Make check payable to JDFR and put my name on the memo line.
