Welcome to my personal JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes fundraising page!
I'll be taking part in this year's Walk to raise funds for the millions of people living with and affected by type 1 diabetes (T1D). The money I raise will help JDRF fund critical research to progressively remove the impact of T1D from people's lives until no one has to fear developing the disease.
Type 1 diabetes is a life-threatening autoimmune disease in which a person's pancreas stops producing life-critical insulin. It strikes both children and adults suddenly and changes life as they know it forever. It cannot be prevented and there is no cure.
JDRF is the largest nongovernmental funder of T1D research and the only global organization with a strategic research plan to fight T1D. This science is complex and costly, and every dollar JDRF is able to direct toward research comes from donors like you.
Anyone with a child, mother, father brother, sister, spouse, significant other, fur baby, friend knows the indescribable emptiness of not being able to take, talk, or love their troubles away. So we look for ways to fill the void. We try to DO something. Anything. We hope to give HOPE. The JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes is one such distracting event that helps us do a little something to help give back to an organization that has truly delivered HOPE.
Our family is participating in our local JDRF Walk for a Cure on Sunday, October 6th. The "Sharby" we walk for is everything contained in the lives and love of our own T1D heros, Sean and Darby. By walking we are paying tribute to their incredible courage and tolerance. We are recognizing the pain they experience - big and small - everyday, the inevitable hours of sickness they feel on the regular, and the challenges they quietly face participating in school, athletic and social activities. We are honoring the brave battles being fought by Aunt Lisa, Uncle Bill and cousin Billy. By walking we are supporting an organization whose goal mirrors our own: a world without T1D.
We are so blessed to have many people in our children's lives that provide awesome support, daily. We are fortunate to benefit from medical and technological advances that were unthinkable a few short years ago. There is a very real opportunity for there to be more, though. More support. More advancements. More HOPE.
Will you accept the challenge to make a difference along with us? Any donation is a blessing and greatly appreciated.
WE ARE SHARBY'S WILD THINGS - LET THE WILD RUMPUS START!!
Thank you for your support!
