Welcome to my JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes personal fundraising page!
I'm joining this year's Walk to raise funds to improve the lives of millions of people with type 1 diabetes (T1D). Especially Colin's who was diagnosed the day after Christmas, a date that none of his family will ever forget. The money I raise will help JDRF advance its strategic research plan to end T1D.
Hopefully one day Colin and the other millions who have the disease will be cured. I am hoping that my involvment and my families involvment will help the JDRF reach this goal. It has been a struggle for Colin, Fred (his dad), Tracy (his mom), and everyone in the family. We all just want Colin to get used to checking his sugars, and taking his shots. But we can only HOPE and remember "GOD will never give us more than we can handle" and I know with all of the love and support we have seen and continue to have from all our families Colin will conquer diabetes!
T1D is a life-threatening autoimmune disease in which a person’s pancreas stops producing insulin, which the body needs to get energy from food. Managing the disease requires constant carbohydrate counting, blood-glucose testing, and lifelong dependence on insulin. With T1D there are no days off, and there is no cure.
JDRF is working every day to change that. And, as the largest nongovernmental funder of T1D research, every dollar JDRF directs toward its research plan comes from donors like you.
Please support my commitment and donate to my Walk fundraising efforts today. Your gift will make a difference for millions of people affected by this devastating, life-threatening disease, and Colin.
Thank you for your support!
