Welcome to my personal JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes fundraising page! I'll be taking part in this year’s Walk to raise funds to improve the lives of all people affected by type 1 diabetes (T1D). If you ask people with T1D, they will tell you it is difficult and life threatening. And they know it never goes away.
I am asking for your support. Please donate to my personal fundraising efforts. By doing so, you can help me make a difference for millions of people living with type 1 diabetes.
I am walking for my niece, Nadia who was recently diagnosed with T1D. She is only 6 years old and like all children living with this terrible disease she should not have to get her finger pricked 6 x's a day and an injection at least 4x's a day to enjoy a meal. Please support me in finding a cure for T1D.
Did you know that:
As the leader of the type 1 diabetes community, JDRF unifies global efforts to cure, treat and prevent T1D. JDRF will not rest until T1D is fully conquered. Won't you please give to JDRF as generously as possible?
A year and a half ago, my sister called my mom to tell her she thought something was wrong with Nadia. As she said the words that she used to describe Nadia at the time, weight loss, thirsty, tired, etc., Juvenile Diabetes never came to our mind. The next day was a day that I would never forget. My sister called me to tell me they have to rush Nadia to the hospital because her sugar was over 600! The doctors kept telling us how lucky we were because my sister took her just in time. Just a few days before Christmas, Nadia was in the hospital with her parents as my mom & I took care of Nadia's infant brother. During that time we realized our lives would never be the same. My sister & her family will always have our love & support. It breaks my heart to watch my niece get an insulin shot every time she eats or when she says, "I wish I didn't have this disease!' So, we walk to find a cure for her and every one living with T1D.
Thank you for your support!
