I'm writing to ask for your support for a very special cause. As many of you know, Isaiah was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes (T1D) over Thanksgiving 2012. It's been about 7 months and I am so very proud of him. Isaiah started "self-injecting" (now there's something you don't often get to say !) his numerous daily insulin shots right after getting out of CHOP.
This year, I'll be taking part in the JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes. JDRF is the only global organization with a strategic plan to fight T1D. I'm asking you to help support my fundraising efforts with a tax-deductible gift that will help make a difference in the lives of the millions of people with T1D.
T1D's onset has nothing to do with diet or lifestyle, and there is nothing you can do to prevent it. At present, there is also nothing you can do to get rid of it. People with T1D must manage the disease by injecting or pumping insulin several times a day, every day. Insulin is not a cure, and it does not prevent the possibility of serious complications like kidney failure, blindness, and stroke.
That's why I walk with JDRF - to help them fund research to discover, develop, and deliver new drugs and devices that cure, better treat, and prevent T1D. You can help, too! Either make a donation to support my efforts or join me on Walk day and raise funds to support JDRF.
It is faster and easier than ever to donate. Use the link at the bottom of this message to donate online. If you prefer, you can mail your check to me at the address listed below. Please make the check out to "JDRF" and include my name in the “Memo” section.

Every dollar JDRF spends comes from donors like you! Any amount, great or small, helps JDRF get closer to its goal of moving scientific advances from the laboratory to clinical trials and into the hands of people with T1D.
Together, we can create a world without T1D!
