Join me in the fight to create a world without type 1 diabetes!
Welcome to my personal JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes fundraising page!
I wanted to tell you about 19 month old Violet. This precious little girl has been diagnosed with Type 1 Juvenile Diabetes. Her parents, and our close friends, Mickey and Jenn had no clue there was something so serious going on in her tiny body, but her whole world, and theirs, has been turned upside down in the matter of one day.
On August 23rd Violet's parent's took her to her pediatrician because she hadn't been acting like herself the few days prior. The doctor ran her sugar and immediately rushed her to the local hospital to be stabilized and from there they were sent to MUSC two hours away via ambulance. It was at the Medical University of South Carolina that Violet was diagnosed with Juvenile Diabetes.
Only a couple of weeks ago they were going about their lives, business as usual and the next thing you know, they are pricking her little finger every two hours to monitor her levels, again after each meal and giving her insulin shots after every meal. She is on a 3 hour schedule for meals to keep everything in line, but she is able to have some 'free snacks' in between those meals where they don't have to prick her finger.
Juvenile Diabetes is not something that will just go away. Without a cure, Violet will have this for the rest of her life. I am telling you about this sweet little girl and her family because I'd like to ask for your support in the upcoming Myrtle Beach 2013 Walk to Cure Diabetes. Below is the link to sign up for the walk and/or make a donation to this very important cause. This particular link is to Violet's page to sign up and make donations under her name. Her team name is Violet's Petals and everyone that walks for her is asked to wear Purple or Violet. Lets rally together for this cause and if you can, please join us on September 28th and sport your violet for Violet!
