Join me in the fight to create a world without type 1 diabetes!

Welcome to my JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes personal fundraising page!

I'm joining this year's Walk to raise funds to improve the lives of millions of people with type 1 diabetes (T1D). The money I raise will help JDRF advance its strategic research plan to end T1D.

T1D is a life-threatening autoimmune disease in which a person’s pancreas stops producing insulin, which the body needs to get energy from food. Managing the disease requires constant carbohydrate counting, blood-glucose testing, and lifelong dependence on insulin. With T1D there are no days off, and there is no cure.

JDRF is working every day to change that. And, as the largest nongovernmental funder of T1D research, every dollar JDRF directs toward its research plan comes from donors like you.

I have two very special reasons in my life for why I am supporting JDRF. Those reasons are my husband, Jeremy, who has had type 1 for 15 years now, and my 8 year old daughter, Julia, who was diagnosed at the age of three. They are both an incredible testimony of learning to live with courage when life is not always easy. I always remember my daughter saying after we got home from the hospital after her diagnosis, that when she was done having diabetes she wouldn't have to have any more shots. It broke my heart to have to tell her she would never get over having diabetes. Jeremy has been such a help to her and me in dealing with it all. He says God allowed him to have diabetes because He knew Julia would and he would already be prepared to help her. They are now "pump buddies" and often compare blood sugar testing results and he is a great example for her to take care of herself. They are both my heroes.

Please support my commitment and donate to my Walk fundraising efforts today. Your gift will make a difference for millions of people affected by this devastating, life-threatening disease.

Thank you for your support!
