Welcome to our JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes Team Page!  

We are taking steps to help JDRF achieve its goal of improving the lives of all people affected by type 1 diabetes (T1D) by accelerating progress on the most promising opportunities for curing, better treating, and preventing T1D. By joining our Walk Team and making a donation, you will be helping us to raise funds to directly support research with the greatest potential to conquer this disease.

We are motivated by the courage and perseverance of those facing the everyday challenges of type 1 diabetes - they are the reason we challenge ourselves to give more, to do more, to achieve more. We challenge ourselves to make a real difference in the lives of those with T1D.  We'd like to share a little about Tesa's story...

Tesa was diagnosed with T1D in March of 2011, shortly after her eighth birthday. Initially she gave herself a minimum of four insulin injections & did multiple finger pokes to check her blood sugar on a daily basis. In August of 2012 she began using an insulin pump, and as a result enjoying a little more normalcy in her daily routine. She continues to check blood sugar levels throughout each day, but is now able to just move her infusion site every 2-3 days versus the daily injections. During Christmas break this past week Tesa  overcame a major fear and moved her infusion site from her usual "comfort zone" on her tummy to her lower back. This was a huge step and blessing as now her tummy can begin to heal & benefit from a much needed break from all the pokes. One day we found a note Tesa had written, & on it was her Bucket List. To "find a cure for diabetes" was listed at the top. This truly is a dream for her & she believes with all her heart that it can, & will happen. Please join us to help make her dream a reality.
