I'm participating in the JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes!

Welcome to my personal JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes fundraising page! This is the third year I will be taking part in JDRF's Walk to Cure Diabetes, along with one-half million other walkers across the country, as we try to reach our nationwide goal of raising $94 million.

July 4th 2011, the day Connor was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes and the events leading up to it still remain clear in my mind.  As a mother, I believe this is something I will never forget.  Although the challenges of diabetes continue to haunt us on a daily basis, we strive to look beyond the negativity and focus on the positive.

Connor continues to do the things he loves to do and not let T1D control how he lives his life.  This past summer, he played baseball, flag football, took swimming lessons, and (once again) did a lot of dirt bike racing at Sioux Valley Cycle Club and even did some traveling to other tracks!  He continues to race on his 65 but the 85 is a work in progress.  His bikes display the JDRF logo and my husband, Chad, for the second year, scheduled the volunteer gate workers and the money they would have been paid went to JDRF.

JDRF has become like an extended family to us since Connor was diagnosed.  And like any family, we help and support each other in time of need.  That is why I decided to become a JDRF mentor.  I am now passing down what I felt, learned, and know about T1D to other families that have newly diagnosed children.

JDRF has really made a difference for us through their support.  Now, I am asking you to support them as they strive to make a difference for everyone in finding a cure for Type 1 diabetes.  The JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes is January 25th.  Please donate to my personal fundraising efforts. By doing so, you can help make a difference for Connor and for millions of people living with type 1 diabetes.

Won't you please give to JDRF as generously as possible?

Thank you for your support!
