Dear Family and Friends,
Hello! We hope this letter finds everyone well and anticipating a wonderful fall season. This time of year, our family's thoughts turn to the annual JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes. This year the walk will be held on Saturday, September 28th at Bicentennial Capitol Mall.
As we know many of you recall, Kim's son Lane was diagnosed 6 years ago with type 1 diabetes at the age of 15 and we continue our efforts to help find a cure for him and so many other children and adults. Living with type 1 diabetes means that Lane's immune system has attacked the insulin-producing cells in his pancreas, leaving him insulin-dependent for life. Lane must check his blood sugar several times a day and he receives the insulin he needs to stay alive via an insulin pump. Even with great blood glucose control, Lane is still at risk for long term complications.
Lane's challenges with type 1 diabetes may be many, but he will not allow diabetes to influence all that he wants to accomplish in life. This summer, Lane has been working on Mt. Rainier doing research. He has had to be responsible for managing his diabetes in a new enviorment - one where a walgreeens is not around the corner.
Since we began walking in the JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes, your generous support has allowed us to raise over $35,000 - and every penny is bringing us closer to a cure!

Until a cure is found, we will continue to raise as much money as possible for research. We hope that you will join us in reaching the main goal Life without Diabetes! Thank you so much for your continued support of Lane and our family!
