Welcome to my personal JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes fundraising page! I'll be taking part in this year?s Walk to raise funds to improve the lives of all people affected by type 1 diabetes (T1D).
I was a team captain for this event about 8 years ago, since then the son of my dearest friend was diagnosed at an early age with T1D. I always knew this would be life changing for Noah but never really understood the extent of the disease and how much time and effort they would spend to keep him healthy. Noah has no less than 6 finger pricks a day and is given insulin with each meal if not more. So in just one year he will have had over 2,100 finger pricks and would take over 1095 shots. Luckily Noah is able to wear an insulin pump instead of taking the shots. The pump continuously feeds him insulin and his parents are able to give him more with a "remote" when needed. JDRF helps subsidize the cost of these pumps for many families. JDRF is so much more important to me now than it ever was or I ever wanted it to be. I would love to see the day when a cure is found. Please join me in helping JDRF make that dream become reality.
