I'm Allison, most of you know me and know that I have Type 1 Diabetes. I was diagnosed with the disease when I was 5 years old, I am 14 now so that means I have had it 9 years. April 19, 2004 in the middle of kindergarten, I was diagnosed. I was one of the "lucky ones" and I did not have any diabetic symptoms. I try to remember this every day when I face a hard or frustrating time with my diabetes. Most people think that when you have had diabetes for a long time that it gets easier, or that you learn to accept yourself and act "normal". Well, you learn to accept it, but it definitely does not get better. No matter what, your different. But, in my life I am so lucky to have the most wonderful parents who take care of me, a family that supports me, and super great friends who don't look at me different, and that's what I look for in people. People like that are special to me.
I would like you to participate in some way, by giving a donation, or walking. Every penny counts! But, if you can't I understand and I thank you for being apart of my life and supporting me.
