Hello family & friends,
It’s time for the annual Walk to Cure Diabetes and this year we are walking in Murfreesboro on Saturday, October 19th at the Middle Tennessee Medical Center. I was diagnosed with type 1 / juvenile diabetes when I was 2 years old on January 26, 2004 and my mom immediately formed a walk team, “Bria's Buddies”. We joined the Walk to Cure Diabetes that May and we've been walking and raising money to find a cure every since. Now I’m 11 years old and in the 6th grade and I’m ready for a CURE!
Type 1 diabetes is a devastating auto-immune disease that affects millions of children and adults. Although I've been living with diabetes almost my entire life, you never get used to it and it never gets easier. There is not a single day that goes by where I wish I didn't have diabetes. The worst thing about type 1 diabetes is- it NEVER takes a break! I never get a day off or a vacation from diabetes.
Despite having diabetes, I don’t let it slow me down! I love dancing, drawing, and having fun! My family and I would love for you to join our team "Bria Buddies" and walk with us in Murfreesboro on October 19th. Come out and have FUN with us that day! You can join our team by going online to www.jdrf.org/murfreesboro.
Then search for me, “Bria Beene” in Tennessee and select, JOIN our team. If you’re unable to walk with us you can register as a “Virtual Walker” or make a donation to my walk team. JDRF is our best hope for finding a cure. Thank you so much!
