Hello! This year I will "celebrate" my 21st "diaversary" of living with diabetes. That is 7,665 days of my life filled with pokes and prods and needle holes. I am ready for a cure!! And YOU can help get us closer to that happening.
I'll be taking part again in JDRF's Walk to Cure Diabetes, along with one-half million other walkers across the country, as we try to reach our goal of raising $89 million. The walk will be held on Saturday, September 28th, at American Airlines Center (Victory Plaza).
Type 1, or juvenile diabetes, is a devastating disease that affects millions of people, a large and growing percentage of them children. I was personally diagnosed with Type 1 on October 17, 1992.
I have two friends, both 12 years old, who also have Type 1 - Abby and Emily. I hope, more than anything, that we can help find a cure so they don't have to send out emails after 21 years, hoping to still find a cure. YOU can help make that happen!!
There is some good news, though. JDRF is our best hope for finding a cure. It funds more type 1 diabetes research than any other charity worldwide and it's making progress along many promising paths toward better treatments and a cure.
Now, more than ever, you can make a crucial difference. Won't you please give to JDRF as generously as possible? Together, we can make the cure a reality!
I'd also love to have you join my team - would love Year 21 to be the biggest team ever!!!
You can donate online, or if you prefer to mail a check (please let me know it's in the mail, though, so I know to include it in my totals), please mail it to:
