I got very weak, pale, extremely thirsty and was having accidents all the time. It was really scary and i felt very sick. On November 28, 2011 my mommy took me to the doctor and he sent us straight to Childrens Medical Center in Dallas where I was diagnosed with type 1 Diabetes. When I first arrived at the hospital my body was in diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA). I was a very, very sick boy at that time but i fought hard to get better. I had to spend 3 nights in the hospital to get my little body well and to learn how to manage type 1 diabetes and take care of myself.
It has been a very overwhelming past few years. I have had more finger pricks and shots than most people have had in their whole lifetime. I am very brave and help my parents out but it is still hard and very scary.
Type 1 diabetes cannot be cured and that is why TEAM PRESTON is walking to raise money to search for ways to prevent, better treat, and ultimately cure type 1 diabetes. We also walk to raise awareness.
Please help TEAM PRESTON as we walk to raise money to
FIND a CURE for TYPE 1 DIABETES.
